  • BCSS, Orange Beach Sewer work together

Wednesday, October 29, 2009 – In response to a request by the Orange Beach Sewer Department, Baldwin County Sewer Service, LLC accepted sewer flows from the Orange Beach system today allowing for routine line maintenance. The diverted flows came from the portion of the Orange Beach system north of the Intracoastal Canal that services the Josephine and Miflin area. BCSS acceptance of the flows allowed Orange Beach crews to work on lines without having to combat effluent under pressure being transported through the line going under the canal. BCSS and Orange Beach sewer systems interconnect at a valve located at CR 12 and Wolf Bay Drive in southern Baldwin County.

“Here’s a prime example of the value of interconnection,” said BCSS spokesman Charlie Baumhauer. “BCSS is willing to accommodate Orange Beach, or any other sewer provider in the county, whenever they need help.” Flows were diverted for about five hours then returned to Orange Beach. BCSS did not charge Orange Beach for the service.
